Directly from Caucaia to the world, Ceará athlete Jonathan Benvindo is confirmed as one of the Brazilian representatives in the South American Karate Championship, which will take place from April 22 to 28, in Bolivia. Now almost 17 years old, the athlete sponsored by Instituto Aço Cearense has been practicing karate since he was seven.
In the last week, Jonathan was in Brasília participating in the national tryouts, guaranteeing a place in the Brazilian team and in the South American Championship. Still in Brasília, he also competed for the classification for the final of the Brazilian Championship, where he reached 1st place, guaranteeing a place to represent Ceará, in October, in Rio Grande do Sul.
Jonathan has already counted more than 200 medals in state, national and international championships and is part, for the 3rd time, of the Brazilian Junior Karate Team Category -55k. For his mother, Valéria Benvindo, the whole effort is paying off. “Jonathan has been training since he was a child and is now reaping the rewards of his efforts. Thank God we have the support of Instituto Aço Cearense to help transform this effort into reality, because the institution is his only sponsor and without this support, none of this would be possible ”, the mother is proud.
